Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of personalities, and a exciting storyline including celestial beings, demons, and malevolent powers expanding in strength within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Spoilers for the third episode of this adventure follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
The third episode concluded with a major cliffhanger and presented the first table of adventurers who will branch out from the primary party to embark on their own adventure, separate from the other two tables.
This warrior group features Teor (portrayed by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
Given 13 cast members, it was clear from the beginning that keeping everyone at one table would be unworkable.
That’s why, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, intertwining the individual narratives before dividing into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Planners, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for participants who are drawn to a classically intense fight-heavy narrative style where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
Upon first impression, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might appear unsuited, but the events of episode 3 show why these specific adventurers are best suited for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the team knows exactly where to go next after a violent initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose demise started the story’s plot—exploited the enemy for his selfish purposes, invading the hidden lair, striking Thimble, and taking all the powerful objects to sell off.
The antagonist then paid off his liabilities and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, above the city, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each adventurer has a personal reason to depart the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, desires revenge.
- The adventurer is familiar with the region and cautions that it is a dangerous location.
- The strong character and The healer, having resisted his relatives’ demands to kill the fighter and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- However, their position as key figures in House Halovar could assist the party reach locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, Teor vowed a unbreakable promise to The savior for his rescue and will now follow him anywhere.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are wanted by the rulers that rule the city for a range of causes, making staying in the city dangerous:
- The rogue and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and The healer betrayed the powerful family and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This results in them no alternative but to travel to the northern region in pursuit of the antagonist.
Upcoming Developments
According to the latest episode’s follow-up content, we find out that the warrior group will not appear next week, leaving the other eight participants to round up the Explorers and Schemers groups.
Fans can look forward to learning which adventurers will be in which group in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, streaming live on October 24.
